Common questions

What can I add?

Photos of pages, pasted text, lyrics and subtitles you have lawful access to. Apera uses their vocabulary to build your practice.

How does Apera choose words to practise?

It starts from your vocabulary estimate and adjusts as you review. Reviewing one form of a word gives related forms partial credit, and marking a page as read gives the words you have studied a little review credit.

Can I read my uploaded book in Apera?

Uploaded pages are processed for vocabulary, then the source text and images are deleted after processing. Read the original in your own book or reader; Apera provides flashcards and practice stories.

Is this suitable for beginners?

Apera is most useful once you know some of the language and want to read more. It focuses on vocabulary, rather than a complete grammar or speaking course.
