Explore 1,923 titles by where their stories take place. Select a region to browse its films and series.
Berlin holds 400 of them, 20.8% of everything placed by setting and 36.0% of the 200 most looked-up — more than twice the 150 of the region behind it.
Darker means more titles set there.
A title set in more than one place is on the row of each, so the Titles column above totals 2,017 against the 1,923 that say where they are set.
The second figure is the share among the 200 most looked-up, so a region can hold a different share of each: Sachsen rises from 0.5% to 2.5%, and Niedersachsen falls from 0.6% to 0.5%. Counted on where a title is set, never on where it was shot: one placed only by a filming location is listed and labelled, never added in. 1,247 titles are set outside Germany, on the last row rather than on the map, and 176 more name Germany itself. Saarland holds nothing and keeps its page and map. Rheinland-Pfalz holds fewer than three titles and is drawn all the same. Four regions hold no series and say so rather than printing a dash, shares pass a hundred because a title set in two regions counts in both, and the top-200 share is greyed on the eight under ten titles, where one title moves it too far.
