Spanish books by setting

Explore 669 books by where their stories take place. Select a region to browse it.

Darker means more titles set there. The Canary Islands are drawn in the box below the mainland, at their own scale.

A book set in more than one place is on the row of each, so the Titles column above totals 725 against the 669 that say where they are set.

Share of allShare of the top 200

The second figure is the share among the 200 most looked-up, so a region can hold a different share of each: Cataluña rises from 3.7% to 8.5%, and Canarias falls from 2.2% to 1%. Counted on where a book is set, and a book has no filming location to fall back on. 343 books are set outside Spain, on the last row rather than on the map, and 39 more name Spain itself, Ceuta and Melilla — cities rather than communities, and not drawn. La Rioja holds nothing and keeps its page and map. Thirteen regions hold no series and say so rather than printing a dash, shares pass a hundred because a book set in two regions counts in both, and the top-200 share is greyed on the ten under ten books, where one title moves it too far.
